I felt kicked in and needed to lose myself in nature. Covered by a canopy of arching trees, the sun peeking through, and driving no faster than 10 mph on gravel, I immersed myself in some place other than an air-conditioned box of modernity. Too bad I didn't have a long lens to shoot the lone horse I spotted, drinking from a silvery puddle of water on the green. His friends trotted lazily in the open field, content and unbothered. Looked out to the field and let the wind rush past me, my car parked on a one-lane road. Quiet. Across the way were houses and patches of forest with "No Trespassing" signs. Desolate and much-needed for the hour or so I escaped.
